Obama’s leadership problem: He can’t

Andy Hefty

Andy Hefty

It’s one thing as president of the United States to surround yourself with a cabinet and group of czars that do your bidding.  It’s completely different to direct their general path and provide decision-making leadership that doesn’t embarrass you.  Now that nine full months have passed into the record books of the Obama Administration, I believe we can safely assume a few things about his ability to lead.

In a nutshell, he can’t.

Lost?

Lost?

When it came to the so-called stimulus bill, he left the architecture of it to the leaders in Congress.  It was like handing clean needles and raw opium to a kingpin dealer.  Congress, instead of crafting legislation that would cut taxes, diminish overburdening regulation, and decrease spending, went on a spending binge that would make an alcoholic look like he only drank in moderation. Fox News: O’s Got Trouble

Bob Maistros

Bob Maistros

News Item: White House Communications Director Anita Dunn appears on CNN and trashes the Fox News Channel. “They’re widely viewed as a part of the Republican Party – take their talking points, put’em on the air, take their opposition research, put’em on the air,” she insists. “But let’s not pretend that they’re a news network the way CNN is.”

(With apologies to Meredith Willson, a take-off of “Ya Got Trouble” from “The Music Man”).

White House: 'Fox...not a real news network'

We got trouble, my friends, right here,
I say, trouble right here in Potomac City.
Why sure I’m a Laureate,
Certainly mighty proud I say
I’m always mighty proud to say it.
I consider that the hours I spend
With a teleprompter in my face are golden.
Help you cultivate stage presence
And a cool head and a keen eye. Read the rest of this entry »

America’s hate mongers and race-baiters

Ashley Stinnett

Ashley Stinnett

A few years ago I attended a political “meet and greet” for a prominent local businessman whom at that time, happened to be running for Secretary of State in my home state. This gentleman’s story was that of a true American. He was born and raised in Nigeria, immigrated to the United States and had suddenly found himself swallowed up by a new job, a family and a hopeful future.

His story is one that should be shared to anyone wanting to come into this country or for those

already here wishing to gain traction in the circle of success. However, on this particular day I was in intrigued by a conversation that took place between this particular candidate and a black female in the audience.

He was addressing the need for more “African-Americans” to stand up for what they believe in and take charge of their lives. Now, keep in mind this was in the midst of the early stages of the media’s love affair with then-presidential candidate Barack Obama. Read the rest of this entry »

Thorbjorn Jagland: Obama’s Nobel ‘achievement’ was leaving Eastern Europe vulnerable to nuclear attack

Dan Calabrese

Dan Calabrese

And you thought President Obama got the Nobel Peace Prize without having done anything to earn it. Shows what you know.

Thorbjorn Jagland, long-time vice president of Socialist International and chairman of the Nobel Peace Prize Committee, came out in public today in an attempt to answer the question on everyone’s lips since Friday: “For what?

Peace, Jagland-style.

Peace, Jagland-style.

One of the things Jagland mentioned specifically was Obama’s decision to welch on President Bush’s commitment to install missile shields in Poland and the Czech Republic – a complete sellout to the Russians that was offered without the Russians having to give anything in return.

This, according to Jagland, was a good thing.

But it gets better. Jagland’s further comment on this is priceless, and tells you everything you need to know about the way these people think:

Barack Obama: An International Embarrassment

paulibrahim5

While still in campaign mode prior the presidential election, Barack Obama’s teleprompter squandered no opportunity in sternly reminding us: George W. Bush has ruined America’s relations with every country, province and hamlet in the world – but worry not, the Citizen of the World is here to “repair” America’s oh-so-shattered international image.

A furious reparation operation was thus launched immediately upon Obama’s inauguration. It began with his opposition to free trade agreements with friendly Colombia, South Korea, and Panama. He thoroughly upset the Chinese by slapping high tariffs on their tires, and the Canadians by prohibiting Air Canada’s charter fleet from flying

His signing of a “Buy American” clause has been methodically vilified by Brazil, Canada, China, Japan, Australia, India, Singapore, France, and the European Union, among others, some of whom have been compelled to trigger retaliatory measures.

Yes, an international trade war brought to you so swiftly and so single-handedly by the Citizen of the World himself. Read the rest of this entry »

Woodrow Wilson: ‘Men are as clay in the hands of a consummate leader.’

Dan Sherrier

Dan Sherrier

Friday, I posted quotes from the first sitting U.S. President to win the Nobel Peace Prize, Theodore Roosevelt. Now here’s the second, Woodrow Wilson.

If you liked Teddy, you’ll love Woody!

Never trust a man with a monocle.

Never trust a man with a monocle.

Wilson holds the distinction of being the first professor to become president. As such, he wrote much about his political philosophy before entering politics. It’s not fun reading by any means, but it shows a different version of Wilson than the whitewashed figure we’re taught in school.

Who is Thorbjorn Jagland? Obama’s Nobel patron is a long-time leader of Socialist International

Dan Calabrese

Dan Calabrese

With the choice of President Obama for the Nobel Peace Prize inspiring such widespread befuddlement, it seems worthwhile to ask, just who are these people who made this choice, and what might their agenda be?

Accompanying news stories on the award were photos of a smiling Thorbjorn Jagland, chairman of the Nobel Peace Prize Committee, admiringly hold a photo of the U.S. president.

This is the man who spoke gushingly about the hope Obama has inspired. Who is Thorbjorn Jagland?

Some stories have reported that he is the former prime minister of Norway, and that he was the leader of the Norwegian Labor Party for 10 years. But he recently completed an even more interesting 10-year tenure.

America’s real champion of peace

Kelly Anderson Wright

Kelly Anderson Wright

Americans should be proud President Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize, shouldn’t we? Especially on the heels of his embarrassing 2016 Olympics’ loss? On the surface, Obama’s win looks like a good thing for America, right? Yay, Team US!

But what exactly does it mean to win this prize?

According to Alfred Nobel’s will, the Nobel Prize for Peace was supposed to go to “the person who shall have done the most or the best work (emphasis added) for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.”

Guess who’s still the most influential man in the world

Dan Calabrese

Dan Calabrese

It’s funny, isn’t it? He was supposedly reviled during much of his presidency, including almost his entire second term. His approval rating was 30 percent on a good day. He was so unpopular that John McCain ran away from him with all deliberate speed, figuring him as a millstone around his neck.

The Decider.

The Decider.

The world hated him. Americans were sick of him. No one listened to him and everyone counted the days until he was gone.

And yet . . . and yet . . .

Is there anyone who set the terms for the debate, in America and elsewhere, like George W. Bush did? And is there anyone doing so, even now, more than him?

The Surprize

Bob Franken

Bob Franken

When Barack Obama steps on the stage to accept ” The Prize”, and shouts, in his rock star way, “HELLO COPENHAGEN!!!” and a chagrined aide whispers in his ear that he’s in Oslo, it won’t be that hard to understand.

Huh?

Huh?

Just a week earlier the president was flying back from Copenhagen when he got the embarrassing news that his efforts to get the Olympics for hometown Chicago had been harshly rejected, even after his personal appearance.
