Can someone explain the Constitution to WaPo wunderkid Ezra Klein?
It’s confusing. It was written a long time ago.
Seriously, how did this guy get to be a columnist? Have you ever read his columns? They were never very good to begin with, and as Moe Tkacick points out in the Washington City Paper, he has quickly devolved into little more than a predictable, mini-David Broder spewing Washington’s conventional wisdom of the day.
It doesn’t bother me if you want to have a 2o-something columnist, but presumably you would take on a columnist like this in order to get a perspective that’s actually thoughtful, interesting and different. Sort of like we have here with Dacia Nichol.
But what the hell do you get from Ezra Klein? He doesn’t say anything you won’t hear from E.J. Dionne, Eugene Robinson or a whole host of other Washington lifers, and on top of that, he’s dumb. The Constitution is “confusing”?
Maybe to you, Ezra. Because you’re dumb. For God’s sakes.
Free Fall
You all remember the old routine: a man skydives from an airplane.
Unfortunately, his parachute fails.
Fortunately, he has a reserve chute.
Unfortunately, his reserve chute has a hole in it.
Fortunately, there’s a haystack down below.
Unfortunately, there is a pitchfork in the haystack.
Fortunately, he misses the pitchfork.
Unfortunately, he misses the haystack.
Think that’s a sorry outcome? How about the “could-it-get-any-worse” scenario playing out in the environs the Gipper referred to as the puzzle palaces on the Potomac?
The Facebook/George W. Bush interview
In its entirety. Seriously, the more people actually get exposed to this man, the harder it is for people to demonize him or to paint him as some sort of dolt.
RI Gov Candidate 2 Prez: Take Your Nod and Shove It
News Item: Rhode Island Democratic gubernatorial candidate Frank Caprio cancels planned appearances with Barack Obama in his state after learning that the President will not be officially supporting him in his race, and tells an interviewer, “He can take his endorsement and really shove it as far as I am concerned.” Caprio’s independent challenger, former Republican Senator Lincoln Chaffee, was an early Obama supporter in 2008.
(To the tune of “Take This Job and Shove It” with apologies to David Allan Coe.)
Take your nod and shove it, I ain’t joinin’ you no more
Obama done went and took all the reason I was comin’ for.
Ya better not come raise funds in my state
‘Cause I’m givin’ you what for.
Take your nod and shove it, I ain’t joinin’ you no more
Well, I been working in this Dem Party for more than 20 years
All this time, I poured my soul into it, blood, sweat, toil and tears.

Take your nod and shove it, I ain’t joinin’ you no more
The president’s dyin’ now like like a dog, his advisors are all fools,
Came into the White House thinkin’ they were all so cool.
Shows me up here, comin’ into my state, with no endorsement, so he’ll pay
I know I’ll be good for some headlines once I show the nerve to say…
Take your nod and shove it, I ain’t joinin’ you no more
Obama done went and took all the reason I was comin’ for.
Ya gotta know that it ain’t 2008
Paper tiger, where’s your roar?
Take your nod and shove it, I ain’t joinin’ you no more.

The GOP Pledge: They get the problems right, but are the answers effective enough?
Republican congressional candidates have done good work in developing a 21-page agenda, and putting it in front of the American people, in advance of November’s mid-term elections. This is what they should do – make the case for how they would govern.
But I’m not sure they’ve done great work, and given the seriousness of the nation’s problems, that’s what we need.

Is there one in the room?
The pledge hits all the important points about spending restraint, and reveals in stunning detail how the rules and culture of Washington have made it impossible to cut spending, and almost as impossible to avoid increasing it. The pledge is also specific about how the GOP would replace ObamaCare and what it would do to enhance national security. (Interesting that vowing to keep Guantanamo Bay open is now a campaign selling point. How things change.)
No one will take on Obama, and the Washington establishment, like Newt Gingrich
