    Wow. A panel that determines whether a specific treatment is medically beneficial and thus should be reimbursed is a “death panel”? In that case, the insurance companies have been running their own death panels for decades by denying a whole universe of treatments, refusing to cover pre-existing conditions and setting lifetime limits on reimbursements. So, I suppose nothing changes! And Krugman is hardly an “enron advsior”.

See FDA regarding experimental drugs for cancer that will save a dying person’s life but are witheld because they have side effects.
