And so it begins.

The paratroopers quietly drop into every doctor’s office, hospital, insurance company, and pharmaceutical office in the land. 16,500 new IRS agents quietly stick their noses in everyone’s bank accounts.

Curious onlookers, not having been vigilant and ignorant of what they should have known, come out to see what’s going on. And in a moment, they lie dead and bleeding.

As it was in the opening of 1984′s Red Dawn, so too it is with the passage of Obamacare: communism has landed on American soil, and we are behind enemy lines. Do we have what it takes to fight – and to die, and to kill if necessary– as that group of high school students did in order to defend they country they loved from invasion? Are we willing to become real-life Wolverines if that’s what it takes?

Wolverines!!

This renewed Cold War, the first shot of which was fired by the left on Sunday, aimed at all that America is about and all that believe in those values, has begun. It’s non-violent, and I certainly pray it stays that way, but seeing the ruthless determination with which the left has forced its values down our throats and the vicious smearing of anyone who objected to it, I’m hard-pressed to see how anything short of that will stop them.

Heck, the left is proud of what they’ve done. They all but talked trash at the American people at the signing “ceremony” (though no display that undignified and infantile should be described with that solemn word). They’ve openly boasted about going further. And let’s face it, now that it’s been done once, the second and third and fourth time become that much easier both to contemplate and to do.

They’re so consumed by their monstrous egos, so convinced in their megalomania that they’re the most superior beings to ever live, that they think the more the citizenry objects to their ideas, the more it proves them right.

Worse yet, they think that supposed right justifies infinite might. No amount of dictatorial tyranny is wrong to inflict provided it implements leftist goals and forcibly remakes the world as they think it should be. To them, the ends always justify the means.

It is this utter rigidity and relentlessness that will lead to violence, should it happen. I have never seen such bereftness of humility and out-of-control arrogance, combined with such stupidity and denial of reality. You ram something down someone’s throat, then taunt them to their face and have your propagandists in the media smear them, and then you wonder why they want to take a swing at your chops? Uh, hello, McFly…(if pride goeth before a fall, we are in huge trouble).

The society the left means to make is inherently incompatible and irreconcilable with America as created by the Founders. Even if they could somehow co-exist, the left doesn’t intend to allow it, as proven by the foisting of Obamacare upon America by every bribe and threat Speaker Pelosi could manage to levy against her own rank-and-file. (Who have no ideological problem with socialist health care at all, but who aren’t so committed to the cause as to be willing to sacrifice their cushy jobs for it.)

For the first time in my life, it seems realistic that the left could prevail. They’ve been slowly and steadily advancing for a hundred years or so, but there was always a threshold they couldn’t cross and beyond which they’d never be allowed to go. Or so I thought until Sunday. Now all bets are off.

And since it seems that they are incapable of letting anyone choose not to participate much less leave, so insatiable is their appetite for infinite power and control, that puts the initiative into our hands. Certainly, we need not and should not waste our time trying to reason with the clearly unreasonable.

But before tactics can matter, the will must be summoned. In order to keep this war non-violent, we must find it in ourselves to use every means at our disposal to resist and not comply in hopes that something might stop it short of that (and whether that stopping point be victory or merely stalemate). If we do not have the will for even that, the rest is academic.
